U.S. Capitol hosts Winter Fantasy 2006
Event draws near: WotC's own show

ARLINGTON, Virginia (Feb. 14, 2006) Clutch your d20s, cram your PHBs into your bag and scramble off to Winter Fantasy 2006. For one weekend in February, the U.S. Capitol becomes the base camp for RPGA adventurers and more.

"Last year was a fantastic roleplaying success, and we are looking forward to spending another winter weekend with our gaming friends on the East Coast," reports Wizards of the Coast (WotC) via an e-mail sent by Ian Richards.

When and where is Winter Fantasy 2006?

This year's event will be held from Feb. 23-26, 2006, at they Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Va., 22202.

What can players expect to see at Winter Fantasy 2006?

Wardrums Prerelease: "Join us for this special vanguard event, and battle with the upcoming D&D Miniatures Wardrums set," Wizards reports. "This will be the very first prerelease for the set that sees release in March. Build a 200-point warband from one starter and one booster, and prove you're no ordinary hero!"

Open Gaming Fiesta: "DMs from all around the world converge at Winter Fantasy on Saturday night to dazzle players with their region's adventure," WotC reports. "Slot 8 of Winter Fantasy is the only slot in the US where the regional restrictions are relaxed, and you can sample an adventure from around the country and beyond."

Three Great Delves: "The Mark of Heroes, Living Greyhawk, and Legacy of the Green Regent campaigns are all offering challenging delve events," according to WotC.

Living Force Finale: "Don't miss your chance to play out the final trilogy as the Living Force campaign crescendos to its climactic finale," WotC reports.

As many fans of The Star Wars Role-Playing Game know, WotC has recently declined to continue production or support of its Star Wars license, except in regards to Star Wars Miniatures.

D&D for Beginners: "Maybe you're new to D&D or haven't crawled up to a game table in a long time and need a refresher course," the WotC e-mail reads. "The RPGA is featuring D&D for Beginners sessions all through the show. Join us and play a simple and action-pact version of the game, and get useful advice from your Dungeon Master on where to go next."

Three-Dragon Ante Play: "Ever wonder how your character gets his or her gaming fix?" Wizards asks. "By playing Three-Dragon Ante, of course. And now you can play this exciting card game popular in the various adventurer delves across the multiverse. Outwit your opponents in this fun and fast-paced multiplayer card game. You can even play to earn gold for your RPGA character including characters in the upcoming D&D Campaigns: Xen'drik Adventures starting later in 2006."

D&D Seminars and talk sessions: "[This is] your chance to talk and play with the people that design and manufacture D&D," WotC reports. "Join us at our annual seminar talking about your favorite hobby first at Winter Fantasy. Hear what we have in store this year and how that will impact your characters or campaigns. Ask the questions you've always wanted to ask and if you're very lucky, get a seat at a table GM'ed by one of the people that has made D&D a truly amazing experience for [more than] 30 years!"

According to WotC, Winter Fantasy has more games than can possibly be played in one four-day experience so they believe they have something to offer for everyone.
